IARS

An international research network

Please note that we have moved to www.iars.org.uk

IARS is an international, volunteer network group of experienced researchers with interest in criminal justice, restorative justice and human rights. The general idea is to provide an opportunity for communication, exchange of ideas and collaboration within these fields. We do not have any profit-making targets. On the contrary, we aim to make a contribution in our fields through independent research of a high quality, academic standard.

In particular, researchers from different parts of the world meet with other researchers through IARS to find common grounds for collaboration. The process starts with someone putting forward ideas that could generate material for further examination. Researchers who might be interested and feel competent may respond, and then the exchange begins. Outcomes vary and may include:

-- Publications in refereed academic journals

-- Setting up larger research projects that may lead to several publications

-- Collaboration and affiliation with other bodies

-- Commitment and engagement in an externally funded project

-- Books

-- Other

Membership is free and we welcome applications from anyone whose interests fall within the above-described fields. You will need to be committed to good quality of research and be enthusiastic. Good academic qualifications and past experience are always an advantage. As a general rule, IARS's researchers do not expect financial rewards from their research, although several funding opportunities might arise. Therefore, honest willingness to promote the academic discipline is a prerequisite. In a nutshell, this is a good opportunity for anyone who has ideas and wants to share them with other experienced researchers who can help each other to publish or set up long term research projects. Email: T.Gavrielides@restorativejustice.4t.com with your CV and a statement of the reasons you want to join IARS.
